Dr. Hudanich took some time out of his busy schedule this week to further advance his expertise in hip replacement surgery through training in the robotic direct superior hip replacement technique.
This muscle-sparing surgical approach does not have general hip precautions like the traditional posterolateral approach to hip surgery and is a modification of the traditional posterior-lateral approach. This new technique spares the IT band muscle, which is an extension of the gluteus maximus. Patients who undergo this surgical approach have no postoperative restrictions.
Through this training at Abrazo Health Center in Scottsdale, Dr. Hudanich will now be one of the few doctors in Florida who are trained on this minimally-invasive technique on select patients.
He is still performing the non-muscle-cutting robotic direct anterior technique. To learn more about Dr. Hudanich’s other approaches to hip surgery, visit Hudanich Orthopedics.com
