As a former professional athlete, James “Randy” Myers of Orlando had exceptionally high standards when it came to choosing an orthopedic surgeon for his knee replacement.

Randy spent eight years as a professional motocross rider and ten years as a professional water skier. He also raced as a long-distance runner on the Lockhead Martin running team to stay in peak condition and even spent time downhill skiing in the French Alps while living abroad.
“I’ve always lived an active lifestyle,” says Randy.
But years of wear and tear—and a knee injury dating back to his 20s—eventually caught up with him. When the pain became too severe to ignore, Randy began researching his options carefully.
Through friends working at a prominent rehabilitation center in Orlando, Randy started hearing one name repeatedly: Dr. Ron Hudanich.
“I heard about Dr. Hudanich from other former professional skiers, so I decided to ask the head of the physical therapy department what they thought,” Randy recalls.
What he heard made the decision easy.
“Their opinion of Dr. Hudanich was completely different from the other orthopedic surgeons they worked with,” says Randy. “They told me they rarely saw his patients return for additional physical therapy years later like they did with many other surgeons’ patients. That really stood out to me.”
Randy was also drawn to Dr. Hudanich’s robotic, muscle-sparing approach to knee replacement.
“I wanted the least amount of downtime possible,” he says. “And as soon as I met him, I knew I was in the right place. In life, it’s rare to meet someone who is truly exceptional at what they do.”

Randy underwent his first successful knee replacement with Dr. Hudanich and later returned for his second procedure using the BackInAction Knee™ Muscle-Sparing Approach with Mako SmartRobotics™.
“It was an easy decision after how successful the first surgery was,” says Randy. “Dr. Hudanich is meticulous. The way he prepares you mentally and physically is unbelievable. I also loved how the robotic technology maps your knee beforehand—it gave me a lot of confidence going into surgery.”
Now 73, Randy is back to doing the things he loves most: yard work, climbing ladders and even water skiing again.
“It’s like a masterpiece,” he says. “I’ve seen other surgeons’ work and it doesn’t compare. I have friends who can’t even sit in a car for long periods because their knees hurt. What Dr. Hudanich does is beautiful. He changed my life.”
After his experience, Randy has become one of Dr. Hudanich’s biggest advocates.
“I’ve probably recommended over 100 people to him,” he says.
At Greater Orlando Orthopedic Group, Dr. Hudanich combines advanced orthopedic technology with a personalized, patient-focused approach designed to help patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and get back to the activities they love.
